Case Studies
Real deployments, measured outcomes, and what we learned. Where client identity is under NDA, the operating profile is preserved.
Staged H₂ Detection — Bench Trial Against Cell-Level Off-Gas
A six-week bench trial pairing the per-vehicle thermal grid with an electrochemical H₂ sensor mesh. Goal: characterise the fusion gain across staged cell-abuse profiles.
Lloyd's Syndicate Evaluation — Detection Grid Against Underwriting Criteria
A Lloyd's hull syndicate engaged us to evaluate whether the per-vehicle telemetry would support a premium-band adjustment. Eight-week independent assessment.
Newbuild PCTC — Detection Designed In, Not Bolted On
Working with a yard during build rather than after delivery removes most of the retrofit constraints. The integration looks different end-to-end.
Feeder Vessel — Baltic Short-Sea EV Trade
A 1,800-CEU short-sea RoRo on a high-frequency Baltic route with rising EV mix. Different latency budget, different alarm posture, same architecture.
Claims-Data Handoff — Trial With a Major Loss Adjuster
After a non-casualty thermal event, a major adjusting firm asked whether our telemetry could be admitted as evidence in claims processing. The pilot defined the handoff.
RoPax Passenger Ferry — Pilot on a Live-Passenger Route
A ro-ro passenger ferry on a short-sea route with passengers on board. The detection problem and the alarm posture are both materially different from a PCTC.
Class-Notation Witnessed Test Program — End-to-End
An IACS member society ran a full witnessed test programme against its fire-safety notation criteria. Twelve days, eighteen events, and an audit package the owner can present to charterers.
Class-Society-Witnessed Detection Trials
A major classification society sent two surveyors to witness six staged thermal events across two days. Their methodology, our equipment, independent observation.
Staged Off-Gas vs Thermal — Side-by-Side Bench Trial
Two detection layers, the same event catalogue, head-to-head over four weeks. The fusion of both beat either one alone — but the gap was not where we expected.
Multi-Fuel Vessel — Coverage of the LNG Bunker Adjacent Area
An LNG-fuelled PCTC asked whether the same sensor architecture could extend coverage into the bunker-adjacent spaces. The answer was yes, with limits.
PCTC Pilot — Southeast Asia Mixed-Cargo Trade
6,500-CEU pure car & truck carrier instrumented end-to-end across two decks. 90-day window, mixed ICE/EV cargo, monsoon-season sailings.
Fiber-Optic LHD Pilot — Open Vehicle Deck, 6 Weeks
A distributed fiber-optic linear heat detection run on an open vehicle deck of a 6,500-CEU PCTC. Used as a benchmark against our per-vehicle grid.
Crew Training Package — Rollout Across a 4-Vessel Fleet
The detection layer is only as effective as the crew that acts on it. The training rollout was a deliverable in its own right.
Port Terminal — EV Storage Yard Monitoring
A vehicle terminal operator extended the same sensor architecture from cargo decks to the storage yard, where pre-load EV inventory had no thermal monitoring at all.
P&I Club Co-Funded Pilot — Two PCTCs, 12 Weeks
A P&I club co-funded a detection pilot on two operator-fleet PCTCs to test whether the telemetry would reduce its expected cargo liability exposure. First of its kind in our pipeline.
OEM Finished-Vehicle Yard — Pre-Export Coverage
An OEM finished-vehicle yard at a manufacturing plant — 14,000 EVs in rotation, no thermal coverage before this pilot. The threat model is closer to the bench than to the deck.
Insurer Evaluation Pilot — Hull Underwriting Track
A leading marine hull underwriter ran an independent evaluation against staged thermal events and live sailing data over six weeks.
Dual-Fuel RoRo on a 38% EV-Mix Route
A new-build dual-fuel PCTC carrying a 38% BEV cargo mix on a trans-Pacific route. The highest EV percentage we have run continuous coverage on.
Pre-Loading Yard — BMS Data Pull Integration Trial
In a terminal pre-loading yard with single-OEM cargo, we tested pulling per-vehicle BMS data and fusing it with the yard's thermal coverage. Stage-1 detection became feasible.
Salvage Tug Data Feed — Trial With a North Sea Operator
A salvage operator asked whether the deck telemetry could be streamed to the tug command before boarding. Six weeks of integration work later, the answer was yes.
Battery Storage Warehouse — Adjacent-Market Pilot
The same per-vehicle baseline approach generalizes to per-rack monitoring in stationary battery storage. We ran a 60-day pilot to find out how well.
What We Learned From 18 Months on the Bench Rig
Before any of the field deployments, the platform lived on a bench rig that staged thousands of thermal events. Most of what we know came from there.
Fleet Rollout — 3-Vessel Bridge Console Standardisation
Standardising the bridge UX across three different operators with three different fleet generations. Not a sensor problem — a human-factors problem.
