About RoRoSafe
RoRoSafe builds the thermal intelligence layer for vehicle carriers. Our product is a non-invasive, marine-grade detection grid that observes per-vehicle thermal and gas state continuously across an enclosed cargo deck — and a fleet-side platform that turns that telemetry into actionable bridge and shore alerts.
We exist because the loss tables tell a consistent story. PCTC and ConRo casualties from 2019 onward — Sincerity Ace, Felicity Ace, Fremantle Highway, Morning Midas — share a root cause that is not the battery fault itself but the detection lag between fault and intervention. Conventional ceiling-mounted smoke and heat sensors were designed for a different fire chemistry and a different deck geometry. Closing that lag is the entire scope of our work.
What we build
- A multi-modal sensor cell (IR thermal + electrochemical gas + presence) rated for marine environments.
- A deterministic industrial bus that aggregates cell telemetry with sub-second polling and self-healing redundancy.
- A fleet-side AI dashboard that fuses cross-cell signals, escalates tiered alerts to the bridge, and produces audit-grade event logs.
Where we are
RoRoSafe was founded in 2024 in Chennai. We are a small, technical, privately-held company. We are in active conversation with vessel operators, marine insurers, and classification societies on first-deck pilot deployments. We have an Indian patent pending on a non-invasive mounting innovation that makes the system deployable without drydock.
We are early. We do not have published case studies yet, our type approval programme is in progress, and our team is in build. We make these things explicit on this site because the buyers we work with — underwriters, class fire-safety engineers, port safety officers — value honest current-state over polished overstatement.
Why now
- EV mix on car-carrier decks is rising past the historical insurance loss-cost thresholds, and hull/cargo underwriters are repricing or withdrawing capacity on EV-heavy trades.
- IMO MSC.1/Circ.1638 and IACS unified requirements are pushing earlier detection and battery-fire preparedness onto the regulatory agenda.
- Sensor and edge-AI economics now make per-vehicle thermal observability deployable at a price the route economics can carry.
