Class-Society-Witnessed Detection Trials

By Engineering — Compliance · April 25, 2026 · 6 min read

A major classification society sent two surveyors to witness six staged thermal events across two days. Their methodology, our equipment, independent observation.

A classification society does not accept vendor self-certification. They send surveyors to watch the test, document the conditions, and write their own report. Two days, six staged events ranging from sub-runaway thermal anomalies to a full open-cell vent, all witnessed and timestamped by the surveyors.

Event mix

  • Two sub-runaway thermal anomalies (controlled heat injection, no venting).
  • Two cell-level abuse events (nail penetration, controlled venting).
  • One pack-level pre-venting event.
  • One full-vent event with active suppression.

The surveyor report is the input to the next phase: type-approval work targeting the 2027 retrofit window. It is the kind of artefact that does not exist as marketing material but matters more than any pitch.
